The Reflection series are painted fabrics that are mounted and bolted to metal structures underneath.
The shapes of the metal are based on UX design flow charts, mapping out decision processes and movement in online worlds.
These metal structures are only visible by the bolts in the fabric, so these works become a meditation on unseen structures that shape collective decision making.
The thin and fragile cotton that covers the metal is filled with imprints and textures through a paint staining process.
Areas of the fabric are then treated with a hardening material that lifts textures and imprints, acting like reflections in the composition - much like looking through a window, with both an outward view and a reflection back.
These works think through the idea of an interface; what is behind, what is between, and what is reflected. It takes the psychological notion of reflection and projection, and maps out the mixture of environment, atmosphere, and internal mystery.
